A DAILY MESSAGE
\ the cell-builder lorn brain is the acknowledged commander of the commonwealth of cells which compose you. Rot your brain is not tbe only part of you ” that thinks. Every one of the billions of cells which go to make up the rest of “you ” think, too. Rut they don’t only think; they act, :>nd most efficiently. Tf only those humans we depend upon to carry out our plans, in business and in the affairs of life generally, were half as prompt, as dependable, and as efficient as the cells ol our body are to execute commands, how much more satisfactory life would lie! In each oil the cells of our body we find an intelligence, a planner, a builder, a repairer. These busy little cell citizens adjust themselves to our needs ami to our protection ; and, being no respecter of persons, they do the same for other forms of life. It is told of the primitive giraffe that, being forced to rely for its food less and less on grass, and more and more on the leaves of the trees, in obedience to its needs the intelligent cells ol its body began by subdividing ' themselves to stretch out its neck. The process of lengthening a giraffe’s neck and the finger-tips of the blind may at first appear to have no connection ; but let us consider. Have yon ever been brought into contact with tlie blind or the deaf and dumb? Have you watched their wonderful efforts at seli-expression? If so,.you have realized to what ail amazing extent they have developed the intelligent l of th • tips of the fingers. It is said that actual grey-matter < cells, similar to those in the brain, - have been found in the tips of the 1 fingers of the blind. It is the same cell-intelligence which stretched the « giraffe’s neck so that it might reach ] its food that is adjusting itself to human needs in tjie case of the blind. The cells of the body are simply an extension of the brain; that is why every sensation which is registered in . the brain is registered in every cell in ° the body also. * Mental suggestion can reduce the < cell-life of the body to the verge of col- ] lapse. _ i; When once the profound significance of the intelligence of cell-life is grasped together with the fact of the power or our thoughts upon the activities of the cells of the body, many things which otherwise remain a mystery will become clear to us. f That mental causes produce physical q diseases is no longer a matter ot doubt 0 or speculation. 0 Chronic hatred, jealousy, suspicion, and envy art* now known to poison Uie blood stream, and to work havoc physically. The reason why thought is such a mighty power becomes clear. "outlet over it. and you will see why our mental attitudes —hopes, Tears, joys, sorrows—have such a far-reaching influence over our lives; it is because every cell in you thinks. J You are more than one, you are a j million intelligences—and the million intelligences which are you. vibrating as one, attract those tilings, forces, and conditions which are at llicir rate of vibration. Tt is the law which you can neither cheat nor evade, but which you can employ. —M. PRESTON STANLEY. ■'
