NEW YORK, Jan. 28
The hope of saving three distressed vessels on tlu; Atlantic, hearing over seventy-five men, dwindled further tonight, as the storms have increased in fury after having battered the shipping for over a week. The Italian freighter Capovado, the Norwegian steamship Fornlane, ami the trawler Seiner have remained silent now for several days.
No other vessels have reported finding them, though many are search vug. The British freighter Silver Fern, lias rigged a jury rudder, and is proceeding slowly towards the coastguard cutter Tain pa, which is hurrying to meet it. The Silver Fern will probably bo safe, but it is feared that the others have foundered, unless one ol sonnscore of searching vessels soon reports their discovery.
