ENGINEER REPLIES TO CRITICISM. HAMILTON. Jan. 28. Replying to a statement made byMr H. M. Cbrvstall regarding the alleged insecurity of the Arapuni dam. Mr T. Rabone, Chief Public Works Engineer at Arapuni, interviewed, said that there' was no cause for alarm. 'I lie leakage through the. diversion tunnel had not increased in twelve months. The tunnel would ultimately be sealed. The leakage at the dam and valve were decreasing. The erosion near the spillway’ was also decreasing and would he further checked' when the water was diverted to the turbines for power generation. A prompt warning would lie g.ven in the event of an accident, the Araputr telephone being connected with the public lines every night.
