NATIONALISATION CONDEMNED
MR BALDWIN QUOTES LOSSES. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Jan. 23. Mr Baldwin, the Prime Minister, in an election speech at Newcast-le-on-Tync, said that the Government would continue to help industry in three ways:—(l) By Imperial preference; (2) safeguarding; and (3) reduction of burdens on industry. He repeated his pledge not to impose taxes on foodstuffs. Air Baldwin condemned nationalisation, with its record of nothing hut failure, and loss everywhere, quoting the following losses on nationalisation experiments in connection with shipping:— Australia £14,000.000 Canada £10,000,000
