MISSING LADS

NEWS FROM WILBERFORCE,

Air James Park received the following telegram this morning: “Posting at noon to-day for identification, a rubber cape, ground sheet and white and mauve towel. Found yesterday (Friday) in Wiilb.erforce river, below the W'eka stream.” (Sgd ) —Al u rch i son.

It is understood that part of the equipment of the missing lads included a rubber capo, a ground sheet and a towel of a similar colour to that mentioned.

The Weka river is some 10 miles from Glen thorn Station, in easy travelling country, which was their destination. It would appear that they had made good travelling until overtaken by the exceptional storm, of that fatal Thursday, and would tend to prove that the lads wore well able to make tlie journey. They were apparently overwhelmed at night by the storm. Mr Aloriieth has received advice that his son Jack had passed the matriculation medical preliminary and accountancy preliminary examinations.
