A GREAT GATHERING

Mr L. E. Jarman, son of Mr H. E. Jarman, of Riccarton, accountant to the Tramway Hoard, and grandson of Mr John Jarman, of Hokitika, has been accepted for the British Air Force. Mr Lance Jarman happened to arrive in London in time to take part in the birthday celebrations of Toe H (of which he is a member), which took place 011 December Bth. On reporting himseif at Toe IT headquarters a special banner represented New Zealand was prepared, and this. Mr Jarman carried in the procession. Writing to his parents regarding th celebrations Mr Jarman sets down: “ During the afternoon (of December Bth), I was the New Zealand representative at the Toe H birthday festival at Westminster Abbey. 11 was a most impressive service. I carried the banner for New Zealand, and during the service, while the organ played a processional, we walked from the rear of the Abbey down the centre aisle, round through the left wing, paused at the grave of the Unknown Warrior, returned past the ftltai through the right whig, and back down the centre of the Abbey, where we lined up on either side, while the Choir and all the bishops and clergy passed out. . .
