THURSDAY, JAN. 24th. The Board of Governors held the adjourned meeting at the Town Hall, at 2.30 p.m. Present: Hon H. L. Michel (Chairman), Messrs A. Clifton, T. W. Duff, J. A. Murdoch and T. W. Bruce. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Treasury forwarding £125 2s Od —Received. From J. Park enclosing rent of section.—Received. From Airs Linklater notifying continuance of service at Technical School.— Received. From Newmans Motors Ltd. enclosing rent of section.—Received. From Secretary Canterbury Education Board in reference to salary subsidy.—Received. Fcorn. Ohni/rman, Hokitika School Committee asking for the Board’s assistance to purchase sections in front of the High School —Received. From. Direotor of Education forwarding resolution of Council of Education that the annual funds of the Hokitika High School Board he paid to tno funds of the Canterbury Education Board for distribution.—Received. After discussion Air Murdoch moved that trie Board resent his action and refuse to comply with the demand, and tb the Board wait on the first Minister of the Crown that visits Westland, and failing favourable reply, an indignation meeting he held to resent their dictation and interference. The motion was seconded by Ah' Duff and carried. ATr Murdoch moved that a telegram lie forwarded to the Hon. H. Atmorc (Alinistor of Education) asking him to visit Westland To investigate several matters requiring immediate atte"tion.—Seconded by Air Bruce and carrion. to the dictatorial letter ueadflarToH It was resolved that the Hokitika School Committee be advised that owing to the dictatorial letter from the louncil of Education, they could onlv favourably receive their letter and defer consideration to a future date. The Board then rose.
