PUBLICITY FOR NEW ZEALAND.
Further development of the,Dominion’s publicity" campaign took place last week, when there went to Australia the first parcel of films to he screened in picture theatres, of a novel kind. With the new year each Orient liner which leaves Australia will be a floating theatre, in which travellers will witness the splendours of New Zealand scenery. The move is another step in the development of the film work of the Government Publicity Office. For two months past the giant liners on the Canadian-Pacific service have been including New Zealand films in their programmes, and other services are now being approached to follow suit. The year 1929 will see an important stepi in the development of this latest State enterprise. Hardly will the new year be cradled when the studios at Miramar, now completely fitted up, will be used 'for the building of the first interior picture of the Publicity Department. This will deal with the early history of the Dominon, and is to form the first of a series of historical features dealing with early episodes in the development of the country. Following tin’s will he another series connected with prominent figures in the story of the Dominion. At present the Department is completing a film dealing with Maori customs, and after that will devote its attention to two sword-fishing films, in one of which the Zane Grey party will co-operate.
