ESCAPE IN MOTOR- ACCIDENT

Commissioner Higgins, Chief-of-Staff. who has been appointed to control the Salvation Army during the transition period, narrowly escaped injury in a motor accident on Friday, his car coming into collision with a lieavffy laden lorry.

Commissioner Peyrou, head of the Salvation Army in France, who voted for General Booth’s deposition states there never was any question of tire General lacking tact, the management of the Army finances or accepted for himself or family gifts or emoluments which were not permitted in the rules. There was no attack on his moral probity or profound business sense and disinterestedness. General Booth leaves the Salvation Army a legacy of a pure, fine life. He was a great servant of God and humanity. If I asked that lie be relieved of the post on account Of age and failing health, 1 still count myself a friend and disciple of General Booth. SALVATION ARMY FUNERAL. LONDON, January 22. There was the most impressive gathering of the Salvation Army at I lain s funeral since the burial of the founder. Congress Hall, Clapton, was crowded. The coffin was covered with a led flagAt each corner stood a Salvationist with bowed head who held an Army standard. All the Commissioners were present, including Catherine and Mary Booth, who sat on Higgins’s right.
