A TURKISH MONEY PUZZLE. • CONSTANTINOPLE, N<>v. 24. The operation of changing the luikish Imepria! paper money issued during the war for the new Republican bank-notes has revealed that the value of Imperial paper money handed in by the population for exchange is in excess of the total value of the declared Imperial issues. The excess found to date amounts to about £54!;.(K) h Government inspectors believe that, a gigantic fraud has been practised. They think that when periodically the former bank-notes were presented tor destruction owing to their deteriorated condition large numbers must |,ave been clandestinely reintroduced on the money market. An investigation is being made.
