Instead of 300 units, our total dairy production in 1902, we are now producing over 1600 units, or more than five times as much as our dairy output . 25 years ago, while our sheep products in the same period have not .quite doubled There is one very comforting feature of sheep operations, however, and it is this: that although the total number of sheep in 26 years has increased by only five millions, or 25 per cent., our sheep products have increased from 1200 to 2000 units, or about 66 per .cent The total pioduction of lamb, mutton, wool, butter-fat, beef, and calf products has increased by 136 per cent, and as this is a greater increase than is recorded for the nni.ts of stock carried on the area of grass land in use, it indicates a marked improvement (over and above price increases) in the productiveness of our grass lands of all classes —Christchurch “Press.”
