A NEW RECORD. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.l WANGANUI, Jan. 21. The Wanganui Centre swimming championships opened to-night. Jj. Smith won the 220 yards men’s breaststroke title in 3 min. 4 see., breaking the New Zealand record by four-fifths of a second. AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS AUCKLAND, Jan. 21. The Auckland Swimming Championships commenced this evening. The principal results are as follows: — 100yds:—Barrel 1, Enright 2, Sellars 3. Time 00 l-ssecs. 220yds:— Bridson 1, De Lorei 2, Enright' 3. Time 2.33 3-o. 220yds brenstroke: —Sylow 1, Lowe 2, Ansell 3. Time 3min. 9 2-osees. 440yds Indies:—Miss Grant 1, Miss Champion 2. The only starters. Time 0.20 2-osees. 100yds. ladies’ backstroke: —Miss Stock-ley was the only competitor. Time 78 2-o sees.
