HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE
MONDAY, JANUARY 21st. The Committee met at the Technical School at 7 p.lll. Present: Messrs A. C. Aimstroug (Chairman), Richards, Sweiiey, Shannon, Coulson, Conning, ami Mesdanies Wilson and I’crrv. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INNVARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Canterbury Board in reference to securing additional land in front of the school.—Received. From Railway Department in connection ,with excursion train.—Received. From Canterbury Board in reference to conveyance of school children from Blue Spur to Hokitika School and notifying subsidy.—Received. It was resolved to invite tenders for conveyance of children, the Chairman and Secretary to deal with the tenders. From Runanga Excursion Committee in connection with arrangements for their visit.—Received; left to Secretary. Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. Tt was resolved to procure a lawn mower for the school grounds and that Mr Smith be appointed caretaker of the lawns. The Visiting Committee reported on conditions at tho school as satisfactory.—Received. Congratulations of the Committee wore passed to the Rector and staff for the gratifying results of the recoil matriculation examinations where 10(1 per cent passed, Mr Partridge acknowledging the vote. Tt was resolved that tho Honours Hoard he completed to date. Messrs Pedder and Conning were appointed visitors for the month. The meeting then terminated.
