The latter took heavy punishment. SPARR BEATS FAIRHALL. SYDNEY, Jan. 20. After a thrilling bout, with many exciting rallies, the American welter, Jack Span- (10.4) signalised his first appearance in Australia by defeating Tommy Fairliall (9.12) on points, in a fifteen rounds bout.
