U.S. TORNADO
FOUR PEOPLE KILLED. ** (United Press Electric Telegraph—Copyright'. NEW YORK, January 18. News from St. Louis states that a tornado, originating in Indiana, swept over Southern Illinois .to-day, turning northward, towards Wisconsin. Four persons are reported killed, but the damage has not been determined. Telegraph communications with the stricken area are demoralised. The first reports indicated the possi- Y bility of a higher death toll, and more extensive damage. VICTIMS -MOSTLY CHILDREN. NEW YORK, January 19. ' Tlie death toll due to the tornado, is now eleven. High winds over a large area demolished homes and schools. The majority of the dead are children. The sudden rise in the temperature after the cold perioa caused torrential rains in Indiana.
