BAY OF ISLANDS. SEAT. [By Telegraph’ Per Press Association.] '• ' AUCKLAND, January 18. The hearing of the petition againsf the election of Mr 11. AI. Rusliwortli. as the representative, of the Bay of Inlands electorate, will not he opposed. An intimation to that effect has been received by Messrs Russell, Campbell and AlcVeigh, solicitor ’ for the petitioner of. the Bay of Islands. As the onus of proof is on the petitioner, an Electoral Court, consisting of Mr Justice Herdman and Mr Justice Ostler, will sit to hear it at Kaikohe on January 28th as arranged. [The absence of opposition will probably have , the effect of somewhat shortening the proceedings.
