MISSING LADS

The search for trace of the missing lads goes on with unabated vigour. A meeting of citizens was held yesterday afternoon, when Constable Drummond of the Knnieri station outlined a general scheme for concentration, which was approved. This is being carried into effect to-day, extra searchers going cut and assisting. As ifar as can be gleaned the only trace of the lads was at Grassy Flat but, and it is proposed to comb out the Hat very fully.' Beyond is the Harmon river crossing. This is a triinitarv of the Arahura river, a ink both the Harmon and the Arahura are now under close observation. Yesterday a party began the descent of the Arahura, while others are proceeding up the river and should meet. Two men are patrolling the unused j bank of the Wilberforee river on the Canterbury side, aiid others are searching in that quarter. The men now out will remain in the back country until Sunday unless clues are obtained. There appears to be theories, one that the boys were in difficulties crossing the Harmon, and the other that in fog on the divide the wrong route was taken. W the latter it would be possible for the hoys to travel into the Tstipo region, and investigation is being made in that quarter also. , The ready help on all sides indicates the spirit of the people on these occasions of distress. Numerous offers of co-operation are coming forward from several young men, as well as from those who know something of the back country. The scope of the search is now very much enlarged and should result in some clue soon being discovered. Certainly no effort is being spared to accomplish-the task in mind.
