—— C 1 The agents for the Zingara, Messrs r Paterson Michel and Co., have been ) doing everything possible to assist in j connection with the stranding. The s firm has a quantity of plant in hand for use in such emergency, and this has c been very useful. The boat may be t somewhat strained, though the engines $ are in order, and with refloating it t should not be long before the vessel is c again in commission. The Zingara was on her thirteenth ) trip to the port, and on all previous occasions had excellent despatch: She worked the bar under all conditions, i On the latest trip the bar was at its best and would account for the night departure being attempted. But 'ior the untoward accident to the steering gear all would have been well, or even if it had happened a lew minutes later when the ship was clear of the ground swell. 'Die Zingara is valued at CIO,OOO and there is marine insurance cover to ITie amount of Cb.OOO. The representative o. the underwriters arrived here to-day. TUG REFLOATED. 'lliere was some delay while a launch endeavoured j to get a line aboard the Zingara round j the end of the works, hut this was not successful, and then tug then steamed away about 4 p.m. for Greymoiith. It is stated that the tug is quite •uninjured. Some attempts were made to pull the Zingara off in the early morning by means of a rope round the end of the south wall across to the north wall, hut this did not have the desired result. A further attempt will he made this afternoon. This morning the representatives of the underwriters visited the scene of the- stranding, but their decision was ! not available at one o’clock.
