“ THE,LAW, OF THE . RANGE ”
—FRIDAY
No outdoor romance made by
Met ro-G ol dwy n-M ayer lias so many ~ thrills ..as “The Law of tlio J Range,” the hewest starring vehicle
for Tim ..McCoy which opens at the Prirjpess Theatre on Friday. Tn the new picture -McCoy, who plays tho part of a Texas Ranger, and ' Rex ,/iyho has 'the role of “The Solitaire ..Kid,” a notorious outlaw, risked , their necks a. hundred times to capture thrills ‘for moviegoers. Director William ...Nigh—who made .those splendid .picture's “Mr Wu ” and “The Fire Brigade”—together with the cameraman, literally took their lives in their hands in following the star and Lease, under, the hoofs of stampeding cattle, out oyer .the gaping chasm, and at last,.into .the midst of !i raging prairie fire ..very reminiscent of Australian hush blazes and which a sudden change of wind might, have rendered most perilous. Beautiful Joan CrawIford, one .of the stars of the future, aj/(p?ars opposite Tim McCoy. This i? the second time they have appeared together, their previous point appearance being in “ Winners of the Wilderness.” In “The Law of the Range,” Tim McCoy has the finest vole of his striking career, and his acting, together with the support given by Joan Crawford and the rest of , the cast, the stirring story and the vividly realistic production* make a picture which none should miss. Those who have been following the hair-raising adventures of Wallace MacDonald in the chapter play, “ Whispering.. Smith Rides,” at t'.ie Princess Theatre, will be interested to know -that, dark deeds are afoot for the next chapter, entitled “The Trail of Sacrifice,” which will be shown on Friday. The forces of evil will have to gel busy and round out their nefarious works now or never, and the tough jgfnnlockJ’c’e gang is one hunch o*f des"^^radoo? vbo can lie depended upon to stop at nothing. Even now the beautilfv.’ heroine lies dead—or at, least a lot of people think so. It does not seem possible that any good could have come of the' big dynamite explosion that took place right under her feet at -the end of the last episode; hut chapter nine is said to he full of surprises, and nothing could be more surprising than to see the pretty damsel drag herself out ‘from under the debris. On Saturday, Johnny Hines in “ Home Made.”
