MOTOR ACCIDENTS

• Two accidents occurred on the Puna-kniki-Greynioutli Road, during the Week-end. On Saturday afternoon, a ear driven by J>. Boucher, of Oreymoutli, going to Punakaiki, was met by a • Packard car from Christchurch, proceeding to Grcymoutli. I lie latter ear, it is alleged, failed to move sufficiently into the side of the road to allow the Greymouth motor passing room, with tlte result that the latter, a Chevrolet, and its five passengers went over a twenty-foot bank. The car landed on its hood, which was badly damaged, but none oi tlie occupants were injured. A lorry was commissioned from Bnrrvtowii to haul the car back to the road, and it was later able to proceed to Punakaiki. On Sunday afternoon one ol Kennedy Brothers’ Studebaker cars, returning with a full load of passengers from Punakaiki, crashed into a .Morris Cowley driven by T. Groom, travelling out from Greymouth. The aecidenv

occurred at a dangerous bend on the Killeen Mile Bluff, where visibility is bad and the road narrow. Both ears were going at a moderate speed, and nobody was injured. Groom’s ear suffered extensive damage, a wheel being torn off, headlight smashed, and the stereing gear broken. The Studebaker suffered only a slight bent mudguard.
