Early this morning a fire destroyed a large wooden building at the AVest Belt, Rangiora, owned by Woods Bros., apiarists, and used by them as-a factory mid storeroom, in addition to a quantity of plant, which included an electric oven and boilers used in connection with the apiary. About seven tons of honey and a quantity of other material were also destroyed. The owners, who are both returned soldiers, will be heavy losers. Damage is estimated at £IOOO. The insurance was £260 in the State Office on the building and plant, and £250 on the honey in the A.P.A.

MOTOR COLLISION. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 14 Serious injuries were suffered by the two drivers concerned when a motor car and motor-cycle met in a hoad-on collision on the Alain North Road, Belfast, last evening. John Hay, a widower, aged 37, was the driver of the car, and William Withers, of Swannanoa, aged 18, rode, the motor cycle. / slight rain was falling at the time ©f the mishap. INVITED TO NEW ZEALAND. WELLINGTON, Jan. 14. An invitation has been extended by the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association to R-. Pearce, the Olympic and Australian champion sculler, to visit New Zealand next month and compete at the Wellington regatta or 16th February and at the New Zealand championship regatta to he held at Pieton on 23rd February. The New Zealand Association has offered Pearce’s club £25 towards his expenses. If is understood that the Marlborough Rowing Association has undertaken to billet Pearce for a week if lie'comes.
