FILMING THE’ STOMACH. NEW DEVICE FOR DOCTORS. BERLIN, "Nov. 12. An instrument for taking a cinematograph film of the inside of the stomach and of what is going on in it is the.latest device provided for the surgeon.

The gastroscope gave the surgeon the means of seeing the inside of the stomach. Four years ago an advance was made when an instrument was devised that could be inserted in the stomach and was provided with a tiny camera and glow lamp by the light o! which a photograph could be taken. A great advance was made when Herr Gunther Loeck, a scientist who specialises in medical instilments, adapted to medical purposes the plan already used in photographing the flight of a bullet.

“The device.” said Herr Loeck when I saw him to-day, “is fitted with a spark-gap instead of the electric glowlamp hitherto used. For illumination during exposure an electric spark-gap is used.”

By this means a number of tiny 2 2-oin. photographs can lie taken.
