The Daily Mail states that General Booth forestalled the Council’s deposition plan by announcing the appointment of his own council to administer the Army, pending bis recovery. with Com. Higgins. President, and Evangeline 4 aml Catherine Booth, tuo prominent Commissioners, members. Furthermore, he proposes that flic Commissioner shall inquire whether any change in tlie Army’s constitution is desirable.

The High Council has appoinied a deputation of live to visit General Booth to ask him to retire from cilice, but to retain the title of General with tin* honours and dignitaries there, of.

The High Council in n statemeui declares as a result of deliberations, following the reception of the G* n eral’s letter, the Council decided to submit the following resolution which was passed without a dissentient:— “To place on record its high appreciation of the General's life hilxnirand join with him in gratitude to God for his partial restoration of health. The Council, however, is, unable to see the practicability of the General’s suggestion and resolves that it is most unlikely in liis advanced age that he can recover sufficiently to take up the burdens under which lie collapsed. It takes the opportunity of requesting him to co-operate with the Council in securing the future weltare of the Army.”
