Two were reported missing to-day, brimring the total of such cases since November -I tli to 17. SUSPECTED THIEF SHOT DEAD. MELBOURNE; Jan. 9. At Leitcliville, near Bendigo, this morning, a resident noticed an unknown man in a shop. He secured assistance and went hack and called tho man, who was leaving the shop without hoots. 'Pile man ignored the challenge, and was shot dead, by the resident’s companion, with a shotgun. A swag whs found a little way off.
