Thu “ Financial News ” commends the candour of New Zealand’s full .statement of the position of the public debt, and erf the sinking fund legislation, included in the new loan pro speclus. “The statement shows the confidence which investors in England all along had- that New Zealand’s credit had been well placed. It is a decisive proof of New Zealand’s good repute as a borrower that investors are holding the public debt that has risen from per cent in 1021 io 12.8 b per cent last .March. LONDON PRESS COMMENTS. LONDON, January 9. Newspapers comment favourable on tbe New Zealand loan. T'lie “Daily Telegraph” says: “The Dominion has always managed its finances well. The price is indicative of the high credit which welcomes expenditure there.” The “Morning Post” says: “The issue is a thoioughly well receive'! one.” The “ Financial News” says: “ Ihe appearance ol this large issue, with lull trustee security, is h,v no means surprising, and it should go far to dispose of the November problem (i.e. that of converting N.Z. loans falling due).
