CORSAIR SOCIAL CLUB
MASS VISIT TO HOKITIKA
SATURDAY, JANUARY 19th
Some 500 members of the Corsair Social Club, of Christchurch, will visit Hokitika on Saturday, Jan. 19th. and will spend about seven hours in the town and district. The ■Social Club is one which has been formed to provide friendly evenings for its members—young and old—and to organise excursions to interesting places. The proceeds are used only for the benefit of members, the evenings and excursions to lie as near as possible self-support-
Somc particulars of the forthcoming visit have been notified to Mr Evans, whom the Club asked to make local arrangements. The party will be limited to about 500 so as to ensure better seats and more comfort on the train for the long journey both ways. 'lhe Club ask for hot water to be provided on Cass Square, but most .ot tlic visitors will probably patronise hotels and restaurants for meals, so that it will not be necessary to have tea made on Cass Square. The Club is being advised of the meal tariff at the hotels and restaurants, so that the excursionists can be advised in advance of the particulars. The party. will include a cricket team, some bowlers and a small band. The band will play in the carriages en route. The cricket team will play a match with the local Club. The game win be played on Sea View Hill. The lwnvlcrs will ho accommodated on the
local green. The visitors who arc free to dcA so will take the opportunity of making trips to the country. It will lie mainly an adult picnic, and the seniors will he desirous of doing all the sight seeing they can in the time. Motor trips to the Dredge and Lake Knnicri will be arranged, the return tariff being 2s Gd and os respectively. It is expected that 20f) will visit the lake, and Newmans Motors is arranging the
transport. Judging by the interest and enenthusiasm displayed by the Club organisation, the visit should lie a pronounced success.
