“A GENTLEMAN OF PARIS” TONIGHT.
The eternal is given a unique treatment in the Adolphe Menjou Paramount Picture. “A Gentleman ol Paris,” which comes to the Princess to-night. The valet of a gay young gentleman bachelor, a man ot “affairs”—oh, ever so many affairs—discovers that his master is carrying on an affair with his wife. In ©ntenuation, it must be said that the master doas not know that the lady is his valet’s bride. The valet would like to fight a duel with the -pinaster, but as a servant he cannot challenge a man of superior social position, so he determines to quit his job. Menjou, as the master, is terrified at the though of losing his plusperfect valet. He would be helpless without him. He tries to hold him in his employ. Failing is this, he insits on the traditional eight days’ notice, and in this he wins his point. Very few men would care to have an outraged husband give them their morning shave, but Menjou carries on nonchalantly. He is about to be married,. and his mind is full of the approaching wedding. At the reception for his bride-to-be, he gambles for Ijk. igh stakes, and the loser accuses him of cheating. He is searched, and a card found secreted in his sleeve. His prospective father-in-law urges him to commit suicide, and a pistol shot almost immediately after would indicate that he had done so. The pistol shot brings about the dramatic climax ot
the production, and explains the mystery of the hidden card. A superb cast surrounds Menjou in the picture, including Shirley 0’ Hara, the leading woman; Arlette Marchal, Lawrence Grant, William B. Davidson, Lorraine Eddy, and Nicholas Soussanin as the valet.
On Friday next Kenneth Hailan and Patsy Ruth Miller in “The Futurity Winner.”
