Advices from Rotorua state that a forced of armed police, comprising Superintendent Eocles, Sergeant lln,r;in. and three consta.hles has left lor the Urewera Country to execute a distress warrant. The police are very reticent, Imt it is understood the local constable was unable to execute the warrant a month ago. The police have a long and arduous journey before them and it is believed they will proceed right into the heait of the Urewera Country. A statement was published in Auckland to-night that it was intended to arrest Rua, the Maori prohpet, hut the “Herald” has received advice from Wellington that headquarters definitely denies this. . No word of the police party is likely to be heard until the week-end.
