BUSH FIRES
EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. (Australian Press Association). GJnitcd Service). (Deceived this day at 10 30. a.m.) SYDNEY, January 7. A Katoomha message states the whole of the Blue Mountains lay under a pall of smoke during the week-end. The hush is burning steadily, but in the absence of wind, tlio blaze seems likely to burn itself-out. Crowds of holiday makers fearing the spreading of the flames, tied hack to Sydney. A Bathliursl message says that serious hush tires covering a large extent of country are raging in the district. Thousands of acres of grass and miles of fencing have boon destroyed, and sheep and cattle perished. Three hundred fire lighters after a strenuous battle, saved three- homesteads. The damage is estimated at thousands of pounds. SERIOUS BUSH FIDE, PERTH, January 7. One of the worst hush fires since the district was settled swept six farms between Tamhellup and 'Tunncytown. in the southwest, in spite of the efforts of two hundred fighters. The damage is reported to he very heavy.
