BOY SCOUTS
Holidays and bright' sunny days suggest excursions and the outdoor life, and as in former years the local Scouts art! preparing for their Christmas Camp, which commences on Monday next. This year it is to he located near the mouth - of the Mikomu River, a lew milts below Ross. Roth Scouts and "Wolf Cubs will he under canvas, the former for eight days, while the Cubs will return home after four days. The journey as far as Ross will be by train, and from there Mr Chapman lias very kindly arranged for transport of everybody and everything by tramway to the yamp site. Scoutmaster A. Sutherland will he in charge, and will have with him Assis-tant-Scoutmaster T). Hein/.. It is expected that several old members of the Troop, who cannot resist the lure of camp life will also join up. and he available to help in various duties. The Scoutmaster has prepared a very full daily programme comprising scout training, sports, games, swimming, etc., for a scout camp is no place for slackers and every minute will he occupied in both work and play. In accordance with strict Scout law swimming will he allowed only at stated limes and always under special supervision . A pleasing fact is that the Harihuri Troop are also to join in the camp, so that altogether there should be a good muster, and a useful jolly camp is being looked iorwanl t- n - Visitors day is a feature of such camps, and it is to he regretted thatthe train service is not more suitable. However an effort will In* made to airange facililies for parents and friends (o get to and from the camp on at least one day. and if successful will he announced later. I'inal arrangements for the camp will he made at the Troop meeting to-night, of which all are reminded.
