Monte Blue, star of the Warner Master Picture, “ Bitter Apples,” is •’gain cast in a part which gives the hushy (favorite a chance to be himself. that he cannot, with equal fulel9portray the sopkisticate. Those "'up have seen him in those subtle of light comedy, “ The Marriage Circle,” “‘Kiss Ale Again,” “ The Man Upstairs,” and “So This is Paris,” will vouch for his ability to portray the man of the world. But there is another uproarious, knoek-’em-down-pick-’em-up Monte Blue. Witness “Red Hot Tires,” “Hogan’s Alley,” “ The Limited Mail,” “Wolf’s Clothing,” and “ Across the Pacific.” Blue’s life has been none of the silver spoon varieties. After years in a Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphanage and some time spent in a Manual Training School in his native Indiana, he set forth on his own. He has been an axe-swinger in the North Woods, a stokeJLin ships, a miner, a mucker; he did his bit for Uncle Sam in the army; ho has harvested grain in the West; he has farmed and been an agi-; tator for underpaid labour; and he has counted the ties and ridden the bumpers, though now he is a confirmed Hollywoodite, with a wife and the brightest baby extant. In “ Bitter Apples.” ’Monte Blue has a part after his own heart, and has made the most of it. His leading lady is the exquisite Myrna-Loy. Others in the east are Paul Ellis, Charles Hill Mailos. Sydney de i Grey, Ruby Blaine and Robert Bary. Harold .McGrath’s famous story was the basis 'for the scenario. Harry Hoyt directed the production. “Bitter Apples” comes to the Princess Theatre to-night.
