MOTHER BURNS HER CHILD 1 . LONDON, Nov. 5. Etlen Wilson, a fisherman's wife, of Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, was sentenced yesterday to 21 days’ hard labour for burning the fingers of her son Ben, aged seven, after he had raided the pantry. She collapsed, weeping, and hei solicitor gave notice of appeal. The mother said she had whipped the hoy for pilfering from the pantr\ and warned him if he offended again die would burn his fingers. He stole some milk, and to frighten him she field his hand over a gas bracket. His struggles, she said, caused her to use more force than she .intended, and he was burnt by accident. She did not intend to punish or be cruel.
