This, in the light of “ What Brice Glory.” “ The Gay Retreat,” “ I.oves of Carnien.” and other hilarious pictures, is “some statement,” hut the fact remains that the audience roared, and this, in the final analysis, is what counts. ‘'.Make ’em lunch,” said George .M. Cohan, “and you’ve cone a lone way toward making ’em like your show! ” 'I hat’s precisely what Director Albert Kay seems to he aide to do with all his productions for Fox Films. And “ Woman Wise,” his latest achievement-, is no exception to the general rule. 'l’llis super specialist in laughter has literally outdone himsell in this one. With his locale in dedda. in the oil Holds of Persia, the director has injected his leading elm meters-—J line Collyer, Walter Pidgeou and \\ illiam Russel! into some of the funniest and. at the same time, some oif the most cripping situations one can imagine. It is all new and hilarious —the kind of fun that is never forced and some of the tilings the actors do arc precisely what any normal person would he expected to do in similar circumstances. That's what makes it id such vital interest to the spectator. FRHD SMITH'S DANCE ORCHESTRA. This nopular Orchestra is visiting Westland again this year and an advertisement appears in this issue giving the dates of the Westland itinerary. Special attractions are promised on the nights the Orchestra i olaying at Hokitika, (•specially mi New Year’s Kuo when Mr -Smith has arranged with Mr Fred Hale, a pomd-ir Ghrislchurcli vocalist to sing during the evening.
The personnel of the Orchestra is the same as ln'-l visit and all the latest dance hits oi the year will he featured viz.: “Chiquita.” “Shine mi Harvest Moon,” “Get out and get under the Moon,” “Faugh Cl 'wn Faugh.” “Dusky Stevedoiie.” “Sleep Rabv Sleep,” etc.
