THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20th. A meeting of the Association was held at 7.110 p.m. Present: Messrs D. P. Stuart (President), T. A\\ Dull, I'. Andrews, W. Houston, Dr Teichelmann. and R. J. H was reported that “Slow Signs” had been received 'lor Arahura school, Evans Creek school, and a sign lor the . cross-roads at Wataroa, indicating the j road to Hokitika, and arrangements ; had been made for the erection ol the ; signs. 1 The Secretary reported that a list of i
all subscriptions paid had been supplied to the Christchurch office. It was reported that inconvenience was caused by some local members forwarding their ! subscriptions to the Christchurch office, and it was resolved that in future members subscriptions be paid to the local secretary, and that the ( hristeliureh office be notified accordingly. Ltd., stating that the South Island Motor Union is publishing a monthly magazine in the interests of the whole oi the motorists of the South Island and would appreciate any articles and notes relating to news of this district, lor ; publication. From same, forwarding supply of pamphlets giving information with regard to motorists camping grounds in Christchurch. —Received. From same, suggesting that signs should be placed on either side ot several streams on the .Main South road, indicating they are there. —I’eceived. It was resolved to order six signs, and |)r Teichelmann agreed to make enquiries as to the most urgent places lor signs. The President stated it was necessary to endeavour to arrange a heal camping ground lor visiting motor.sis. and this matter was fully 'discussed.
and it was resolved to apply to the Borough Council for assistance. Mr T. W. Duff moved that a letter of appreciation be sent to Air Johnston (District Engineer) for the excellent way several bad corners near .Stafford had been improved. Seconded by Dr Teicholmann and carried unanimously. Mi- E. Andrews thought they should suggest to the County Council that tin sharp corner on the Lake Kanieri roan just beyond where Ward Road joins he improved.— Agreed to. Mr Duff moved a hearty vote o thanks to .Mr Appleton for continuing to act as secretary. Seconded by AL Houston and carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to the chair teiminated the meeting.
