Mrs Lancaster, arriving here to-day. for an air tour of the United States, carried with her the special aviation compass used Tv her husband on the Australian flight, and which he was planning to use here, hut the compas was filled with tour ounces of pure alcohol, and the customs officials in■istod it must he drained, otherwise it would iic a violation ol the prohibition law.

Captain Lancaster, alter appealing to the many officials that the draining of the compass would completely upset its calibration estimate, was finally permitted to carry it away intact-.
