M.P.. in the cause of Labour. The function took' the form ol a complimentary social and dance, and proved to he a splendid success. Ihe stage waart ist ictilly decorated with bunting and greenery, present mg’ a most pleasing effect. The concert programme, supplied by local talent., was of a very logo order, and those contrihut mg items air to he congratulated on then* success! ul and much appreciated ellorts. At the conclusion e| the concert. 11 is Morslitp the Mayor (Mr A. Spiers; introduce! the guest of the evening. Mr () Rrien. and also the leader ol the New /<' land Labour Party. Mr 11. K. Holland. Mrs O’ Prion was also present, and a pleasing little net was staged "hen a young girl approached Mrs O’llrieit and on behalf of Kumara IraOiiD. presented her with a heautil.il bouquet <>■ flowers. Alter undresses had been delivered by the Mayor, Messrs 11. L. i ’Miami. 11. Hamer, and the guest ol the evening, the large assembly retiie! to the hack of the stage, where a dainty supper had been provided hv id ladies-committee, and which was much appreciated. Tim hall was then cleared of the sealing, and dancing menecd, finishing in the early boms o' Wednesday morning. ’1 he gathering was a most happy one. and was voted by till present its being among the best night’s entertainment ever held in Kumara.
