KOITERANGI ROADS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Allow me through the medium of your valuable paper to diaw the attention of the Westland County Council to the exceedingly rough state o! different roads in Koiterangi district, which do not come under the jurisdiction of the Main Highways Board. In the first instance the Municipal Road, practically right up to George Spence’s residence' is absolutely dangerous to travel on at a speed of over 8 miles an hour, and really wants early attention. I understand Mr M. Keenan has spent about £2oo on the upper portion ot this road, and I really think the County Council should spent at least half that amount to make the road fit to travel on. There are fully twenty ratepayers living along this road, and surely they deserve some consideration, and I am sure they will all 'back up my statements with regard to the state of the road. There are also some, other roads which are in a very bad state, namely, the road leading to Brown and Party’s mill, also the swamp road from Mr E. E. Wall’s gate down to Mr Mattingloy’s residence. On part ot Hi is road t here is grass growing fully a foot long, and it is also very rough and full of pot holes. Now that the Ha in Highways Hoard have taken over (jiiite a number ot roads the Council should I'iave more available funds to spend on other roads not taken over by the Board. Thanking you for your valuable space. —f am, etc.. J. SHIV AS.
