WEL LINGTON COUNCIL'S DIFFICULTY. (By Telegraph—Press Association). "WELLINGTON, December 19. I here is a hitch in the acceptance of the Government’s subsidy of L‘2,000 for unemployed in Wellington. This involves the City Council raising a loan of an equal amount. The Mayor informed Sir Joseph Ward that the Council had already made provision for £IO,OOO during the past month and a further loan was impossible. The Mayor states the Council has already raised (' £25,000 for unemployment works this year, which is more than anv other centre has done, and he did not feel he could call on the Council to raise a further sum.
