Anthorilntive reto “ ups mid downs ” hnve he'en so frequently stressed Unit they must he accepted ns an explanation of to-night's change, lmt it is not reassuring to recall the anxiety always previously expressed at any setback.
The somewhat uninformative nature -rif the announcement finds eminent authorities with slightly divergent views. One describes the bulletin as indeed disappointing, and adds: - “There is nothing; to indicate whether (In' general condition is less satisfactory, 01 whether some local trouble has appeared. The probability is that tinweakness which has been diminishing in the past twenty-four hours is slmwinn itself more markedly.” Another equally eminent authority says: “The King has made a big improvement in the past few days. We must expect something of the ■ kind reported tonight. Nevertheless it does rather increase anxiety that the Kind's relapse occurred in the aifternoim, hecuu.se at three o’clock it was announced that there was a slight improvement. It is recalled that Friday night's news was unfavourable, followed on Saturday by a more reassuring note, while from thence until to-day, a slight improvement is mentioned.
The King’s condition has. in I act. hecn subjected to changes during the course of each day. Tonight’s report, while distinctly different from what had been hope I for, has not unduly increased the anxiety which those in close touch with the King have never ceased to 'loci. The Prince of Wales lelt the Pahmc at eleven, followed immediately l»y the Duke and Duchess of York. Ray therapy was again administered, the visits of Dr Wood and I Inwit I to the Palace lasting hall-an-hoiir. Dr Rigby was again' in consultation with Lord Dawson and Sir F.
