PRESBYTERIAN CHOIR
Last night the choir of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church visited the Mostland Hospital and the Mental Hospital to entertain the patients. The choir rendered'tin anthem and sang a number of Christmas carols at different stations in the main corridor so that they you Id be heard by all. Matron Lloyil expressed her thanks to the choir andsaid how greatly the visit had been enjoyed. The choir afterwards went along to lie .Mental Hospital where a large gathering awaited them in the
beautiful ball. Keen appreciation was shown as the various items wore given. Once when Air Hayward asked whether they would like “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” or “Christians Awake” a patient loudly called out, “We’ll have them both.” After the sacred part of the programme was finished community singing was joined in by all, the patients greatly enjoying the popular songs. Air Pickering, on beh’a’f of Dr Buchanan. A[atron Drummond and the staff thanked the choir for their visit and complimented them on the talent they had displayed. This was supported in a nice little speech by one of the patients and carried with acclamation. A sumptuous supper was provided for all at the close and a very happy evening ended up with the earnest singing of “God Save the King.” Air Pilkington and his choir of 20, felt that the visit lmd been well worth while.
