STEAMER STILL AGROUND

SYDNEY. Dec. 15

Burns Pliilp steamer Marinda is still aground at the entrance to Dedelc Harbour. Attempts to refloat her have been unsuccessful and the vessel is humping badly. The Moutoro has gone to the Marinda's assistance. Passengers are still aboard.

WOOL WORKS BURNT

The wool scouring works of Hayes Bros, at Bourke were destroyed by hie. The damage is estimated at £7OOO. The orign of the fire is unknown.

William McLean, ‘24, was suffocated when a fire destroyed a block of flats in the city. Firemen fought their way to McLean’s bedroom, but efforts to restore respiration were unavailing.
