A CIRCUS RIDER
A!. ZOURKOLF’S XFAY ROLL. PARIS, October 2-1, Al. Alexander Zoubkolf, who became the ex-Kaiser’s brother-in-law last November when he married the Princess A’iotoria ol Schuumbiirg-Lippo, is to ap pear shortly ns a circus-rider in a Parisian circus. When the circus was performing in .Luxembourg the ex-Kaiser’s brotlier-in law attended the performance. Thi . was soon after lie had been expelled from Germany and Belgium and compelled to take refuge in the duchy, the only country lie could find to grant liim asylum. Alt Zoubkolf the next day went to see the circus proprietor, Jean Hoiieke, and asked if he could find him a job. “Have you read my memoirs ” he asked. 'The proprietor confessed that, lie had not. “But I am the ex-Kaiser’s brother-in-law,” said Al. Zoubkolf. “I have had at least twenty different jobs, l was a cavalry odicer in the Russian Army. I am a good horseman; with a litth training I should make a firstclass circus-rider. ! louche engaged Al. Zoubkolf on the spot- and arranged with him to appear ill |he Victor Fmmanrel Theatre. Turin. Passport didicnltie.s. however, have prevented this, but as soon as the circus returns to Paris Al. Zoubkcfl. under the title of “Prince ZoubkofF — the ex-Kaiser's Brother-in-law” will be the star turn. AL Zoilbkoff should he aieustomed to ups and downs by this time. According to his own story, he is a member <Y a Russian family which suffered under tin' Bolshevist regime, and lie has had to do such humble work as washing plates in a Berlin restaurant. He has been, he declares, a commercial traveller. a cabin hoy in a Finnish steamer, a sailor in a Norwegian ship, a seller of hot sausages at street corners and a cabaret singer. AYhen his approaching marriage to tin 1 Princess A'ietoria —of which the exKaiser disapproved—was announced, a Paris mannequin. Aflle. Odette Louis, threatened to ' sue the Princess for JSob.OOO for alienation, on the ground tli,-it AL Zoubkolf and she had been engaged for six months. WO AT AX FIULXHS. AL Zoubkolf was expelled from Germhny because he had not applied lor permision to reside there and because the authorities objected to bis behaviour in a night club, whore he knocked a pageboy. He was also asked to leave Belgium after lie had arrived in Brussels with Alme. Alice Nyssens. a brunette wlm said that with her husband's consent she accompanied AL Znnbkofl to liclo him to prepare for a visit to the Belgian Congo. This visit the Belgian authorities refused to allow. Ho later appeared at Venders with another woman.
