AIOXIUY, DEC. 10tli. The Board met at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs J. J. Breeze (Chairman), G. Davidson, R. Aleharry, A. B. Spiers, M. Keenan, E. A. Wells, T. IV. Dull. G. Heinz and \Y. Jeffries. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. 1 NAVA RD CORRKSPONDENOE. •From Dr Yalintine, Wellington, asking for information.—Received. From Hospitals’ Board Association notifying illness ol Secretary (Air Keisenbiirg).—Received, a letter of sympathy to be sent. From F. Turley (Westland Timber Workers’ Union) notifying J. Busker was a member of the Union.— Received. The- Board alter discussion resolved that Mr Turley Ik* informed that Mr Rusher was not on the official list supplied to the Board. From Dr Bell, Hariliari, thanking Hoard for appointment as medical officer in South Westland.—Received. From Kiimara .Medical Association, in reference to holiday leave granted medical officer.- Received and approved . Erma Ross and Kumara Town Clerks, forward ing l evy.—Recei vod. From J. G. Freitas, wnrdsman, resigning positon. Received and accepted. Applications to be invited. Emm G. Small and Airs Rouse, applying for annual leave.- Received and left to .Matron to deal with. From T. A. Condon, Tata re offering £7 for mare and harness.—Received and referred to Air' Jeffries to deal with.
REPORTS. From Surgeon Superintendent, \1 cstland Hospital ,reporting patients in hospital on 31st. October was Lb males, 9 females-34. Admitted during Xov*mher. 2b males, 2(1 females—lb ; .total treated, 50 males 29 females—DL Di~charged cured. 21 males. 13 females—- . Died, 3 males, 4 females. Total discharged 27 males. 1< females —41. Remaining in hospital, 30th. Nov. 23 mains. 12 females -3b. In hospital for two months, 10 males. 3 I ('males.— Received. The House Committee reported conditions 1 satisfactory, with no requiremenfs.—Received. Accounts amounting to £523 17s Id were* passed for payment. The Treasurer reported receipts £bbo Gs bd. payments £777 3s Gd, dehit balance £SGI 10s lid.—Received. The Chairman of the House Committee- and .Matron were authorised to arrange for the annual Xmas cheer for the inmates of the institution. The next meeting of the Board was fixed for 14fb. January. All' Jeffries took the occasion to extend to the Chairman and members. Dio Surgeon Superintendent. Alatron and Staff of the institution. Christmas greetings. Air Jeffries expressed appreciation of the work of the staff arid also trihutod the splendid work done by Air Davidson, Chairman of the Mouse Committee, in and out of season. during the past five or six years. Mr Duff supported, endorsing the appreciation of Die work of the staff and specially endorsed tlit? rclcrenccs to the work of Air Davidson. The grounds wore a credit to Air Davidson whose work speaks lor itself. Ihe results are excellent, and show a wonderful improvement as a result of his untiring work. Air Keenan endorsed the previous remarks, appreciating very warmly Die excellent work done by Air Davidson. Air Mcharry appreciated the work done by Air Davidson. It was a credit to anyone, done under very difficult circumstances. Air Wells heartily supported, coticratulatiiig Air Davidson on liis goodwork. Air Spiers supported, stating the wav Dio flower garden was laid nut was a credit: to Air Davidson and the Hoard. Air Heinz heartily endorsed the good work' done. The motion was agreed to. Tin* 'Chairman returned thanks on iiehiill of Die Hospital staff and Dir* compliment paid to himself a.:s Chairman. Air Davidson appreciated very much the kindly references of members. The Board rose at 9.30 p.m.
