Ashburton to-day possesses a bar for the sale of liquor, the Ashburton Club and ALS.A. having opened one in consequence of the changed i conditions resulting Imm the consti- j tution of Al id-Cauterhnry electorate. The Club has yearly paid the annual fee on the charter thus keeping it alive in anticipation of wet conditions. 1 lie membership of the ( lub is limited to six hundred.
