MISHAP AT WINGATUI
DUNEDIN SHIPPING DELAYED

DUNEDIN, December 6
When leaving the harbour late on Wednesday night for way ports and Auckland, the steamer Wingatui went aground at the entrance to Victoria channel. The mishap was caused through her machinery being disabled, the main air pump breaking. I he vessel was towed off at 11.30 a.m. to-day, and berthed to have repairs effected. As the Wingatui was lying fore and aft across the channel the fairway was blocked, and shipping movements were disorganised until midday. The Holmdale. Manuka, Waipiata, and Port Curtis all berthed at Dunedin several hour s late.
A strong north-east gale prevails and the steamer Ben ho Ini is unable to sail or AYestport. The vessel is in light trim and will remain at her berth until calmer weather.
