PARIS, Oct. 16. Mr Richard Turing, a young United States student staying at a fashionable Champs Elysees hotel, has been the victim of a variation of the confidence trick.

He met at a bar near the Arc de Triomphe two men who introduced themselves as John Cameron, a United Statds citizen, and Michael O’Brady, an irishman: The Irishman told the old story of having inherited a large fortune, a great part of which was to be devoted to works of charity. He appealed to 'the two Americans to contribute to his charitable efforts.

An appointment was made for the following day at a dance ball near tlie Chart p Elysees. Cocktails were dm.nk. and Mr Lning told bis new friends that he could uot spate mOl G than £l2O towards' the charity. While the American student was dancing his companions, he alleges, put a narcotic into his glass, and shortly after ho sat down again he fed asleep in his chair. AVhen he awoke, liis companions had disappeared, and so lin'd his pocket book containing the promised £l2O and another sum of £IOO.

His companions left without even remembering to pay for their drinks.
