(Received this day at 9.25. a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 7.
Though a delicate operation necessitating the confinement of an injected solution to the interior vein, a new treatment for varicose veins, l>y local injections, is asserted by a “Daily Mail” medical writer to afford a complete cure, the exception being most advanced cases.
He points out it supersedes the old method of tying the veins. A solution of quinine or salicylate soda is injected by an ordinary hypodermic glass syringe, irritates the lining of tho vein fclots blood effectively blocking the blood vessel. A single injection is usuallv sufficient.
A general anaesthetic is unnecessary. The treatment is available in most London Hospitals, and is so popular it necessitated several special clinics.
