COMMITTEE .MEET]XG. 'J lie Committee off tlie above Chib mot at 8.45 o’clock last evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Williams" (Chair). Neville, Yarrall, McGregor, .'[Jutland, Sellers, Peake, and Evans. An apology was made for the absence of Mr Whiley and Dr Teiehelrnann. Tlie minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Hail way Department notified the usual train arrangements for race days. Received with thanks. The X.Z. Racing Conference forwarded circulars in respect to collection of fees; notified the appointment of G. M. McLean, of Amherley, as Stipendiary Steward and R. G. Black as Racecourse Inspector if or the forthcoming meeting.—Received. James W. Thomson, East Oxford, donated a whip to the. winning rider in the Hokitika Handicap.—Received with thanks and good wishes appreciated. The Town Clerk notified water supply for fire purposes would be laid on to the course at a cost of £so.—Received and accepted, the work to bo done immediately. The Department of Internal Affairs granted totalisator permit.—Received. R. E. Hatch, Palmerston North, tendered with regret his resignation as starter of the Club, and thanked the officials for courtesies extended. —Received and accepted. APPOINTMENT OK o TARTER. The Secretary reported that on consultation 'with the President it was resolved to invite applications. These were now received Irom George Reid, of Upper Riccarton, and H. E. Connop, of Woodville. After consideration it was resolved Mr Reed be appointed starter for the forthcoming meeting. GENERAL. The Secretary reported in regard to various matters, and was authorised to make arrangements regarding bank accommodation. The arrangements regarding fire insurance were approved, ft was resolved in selling the publi■ans’ booths to offer one with the option of the two booths. Owing to lack of plant it was decided to dispense vith the stewards’ luncheon and refreshment arrangements. It. was stated the furnishing of the tea rooms was arranged for. and would be under conduct of the ladies. The building was now well advanced and the new works would be completed in the coming week.
The Chairman and others relerred o the excellent arrangements made lor he conduct of the meeting and exoressed satisfactoin with the maunei in which. Mr Stevenson had carried out the work. A number of minor matters were discussed and arranged for. NEW MEMBERS. The following were elected members if the Club:—Mrs Buchanan. Messrs W. Kouthan, 11. McMullan, P. Webster, Jas. Cropper. VOTE OF SYMPATHY. Before the meeting closed, the Chairman referred to the death o! .Mr W . R. Kettle, who had keen a prominent offi- • ial of the Creymouth Jockey Club for many years. It was resolved to Reward a letter of sympathy to Mrs Kettle and the bereaved family.
