Live stock was well represented on the Rotorua when she 1 arrived at Auckland from England. Over 200 Hungarian partridges fluttered excitedly in their cages. These pretty game birds, which stood the voyage remarkably well, were imported by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society. Some will be liberated at Nakarau, in the Ilelensville district, some at Pokeuo. and a few will go to private breeders. Six Angora rabbits were consigned to a resident of Devonport. Almost every boat from England now brings a number of these fluffy animals and the production of Angora wool promises to become a real industry in the Dominion. There were also two canaries in charge o'f the ship’s cook. Two thoroughbred horses (one an Arab stallion from Egypt) had their own special attendant.
