AN EXPLOSION

An acetylene tank exploded with a terrific roar in flic suburb ol Newtown, destroying a two storey shop. Pieces of the cylinder were blown through the walls of the adjoining premises. A large stack of timber was blown up and pieces thrown hundreds of yards away. Houses within a radius of a mile were shaken. There was no one on the premises, but many people bad narrow escapes. The Eire Brigade quickly extinguished the fire which'broke out. The premises are those of 1). Reid and Sons, plumbers. ganananx » m «■ mmaamaamsa
